The price of a steel hall is a matter of fundamental importance to investors. At the same time, the question of price is one that most contractors answer evasively – „it depends,” „please contact us,” „we need details.” At MatBud, we do things differently: we show specific implementation prices, provide an online configurator, and explain what this price is based on. This allows you to consciously plan your budget before we move on to discussing technical details.
What is the cost of a steel hall in 2026? Specific price range
The price of a „turnkey” steel hall including delivery and assembly is most often:
-
- Small single-pitch hall 6×30×4 m (180 m²) – from approx. £110,000–£160,000 net,
-
- Medium gable roof hall 15x42x5 m (630 sq m) – from approx. PLN 565,000 net (price confirmed by a realised project from our „off-the-shelf” offer),
-
- Insulated hall 16.68×42×6 m (700 m²) with delivery and assembly – from approx. £662,900 net,
-
- large Production hall or warehouse exceeding 1,000 m² – over PLN 1 million net.
These are the actual figures, using our readily available warehouse offers as an example. We have structures ready on-site – 500 tonnes of hot-dip galvanised IPE beams are waiting for an investor who doesn't want to wait months in line for the rolling mill. This means that from decision to finished warehouse can take several weeks, not half a year.
What makes up the price of a hall? Five main components
An investor who knows the cost structure can more easily assess any valuation. The classic calculation for a steel hall includes:
-
- Steel structure: typically 35-45% throughout. The price depends on the weight of the steel (which in turn depends on the snow and wind load zones, the span and the height of the pole), the quality of the material and the method of corrosion protection. A hot-dip galvanised structure with a 10-year warranty on the coating costs more than a painted one, but the actual running costs are lower – which is why at MatBud we include galvanising in the price of painting.
- Foundations: approximately 15–20% of the cost, depending on ground conditions. Foundation footings, strip footings, industrial flooring and drainage – all must be calculated separately. A load-bearing slab for forklift trucks is a different cost item from warehouse flooring for pallets.
- Cladding (walls and roof) – 20-30%. The biggest difference here stems from the choice of material: trapezoidal sheet metal is currently about three times cheaper than sandwich panels, but it has no insulation. We discuss when each option is the most cost-effective in a separate article (read: Sandwich panel or trapezoidal sheeting – which to choose for hall cladding?)
- Assembly: 10-15%. With modular structures using IPE I-beams, assembly is quick and straightforward. The hall is available „off the shelf” and can be erected in a matter of days.
- Documentation and permits: 3-7%. Construction design, approvals, geotechnical studies, and design maps. Under the main contractor model, we are responsible for everything.
What changes the price the most?
Several factors can shift the valuation by several percentage points in one direction or the other:
-
- snow and wind zone – a hall in the Tatras requires a different construction than the same structure in Wielkopolska; higher loads mean heavier steel,
-
- frame span – a 22-metre hall costs proportionally more per m² than a 12-metre hall,
-
- usable height – every additional metre means more steel for the columns and greater wind pressure,
-
- housing – sheet metal vs. sandwich panel is currently even a threefold difference in material cost,
-
- gates, windows, docks – a sectional door, a loading dock with a hydraulic ramp can often cost tens of thousands of zlotys extra,
-
- ground conditions – weak ground means piles, drainage, and more expensive foundations.
Available immediately or custom-made project?
An investor keen on a quick turnaround can save as much as 10–20% on costs by opting for a „ready-made” structure from our range rather than a bespoke design. The reason is simple: the structure has already been manufactured, the materials purchased and transport optimised. However, if your plot is an unusual shape, your operational requirements call for a specific grid of columns, or you’re planning a tall production hall – a bespoke design will help you avoid costly compromises. We’ll give you honest advice on which option is best for you.

FAQ
Yes. We offer modular steel structures available Off the shelf, designed for self-assembly. We supply a complete set of components along with documentation and instructions, allowing a local contractor to carry out the assembly.
